Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to fix them.
The save button doesn't appear on AI responses
Try refreshing the page. The extension needs to inject into the page after it loads. If you installed the extension while the tab was already open, it won't appear until you refresh.
Check the extension is enabled. Go to chrome://extensions and make sure Savelore is toggled on.
Check if the site is supported. Savelore works on chat.openai.com, claude.ai, and gemini.google.com. It won't inject on other URLs.
The sidebar won't open
- Make sure the extension is installed and enabled at
chrome://extensions - Try clicking the extension icon in the toolbar (not the puzzle piece — the actual Savelore icon)
- If the icon doesn't appear, pin it (puzzle piece → pin icon next to Savelore)
- Refresh the page and try again
If the sidebar still won't open, try disabling and re-enabling the extension, or reinstalling.
My saves disappeared
If you're not signed in: Saves are stored in Chrome's local extension storage. They can be lost if:
- Chrome's extension data was cleared (e.g., via "Clear browsing data" with "Hosted app data" checked)
- The extension was uninstalled and reinstalled
- Your Chrome profile was reset
If you're signed in with cloud sync enabled: Your saves should be on the server. Try signing out and back in to force a sync.
If neither helps: Check if you're logged into the right account. Multiple Savelore accounts will have separate save libraries.
Collection Mode isn't appearing
Collection Mode is in the sidebar toolbar, not in the per-response hover toolbar. Open the Savelore sidebar first, then look for the stacked-layers icon at the top of the sidebar.
If you're on the free plan, you have 2 Collection Mode uses. If you've used both, you'll need to upgrade to Pro to start new collections.
Notion sync stopped working
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Notion in the sidebar
- Check if the connection shows "Connected" or "Disconnected"
- If disconnected, click Reconnect and re-authorize
- If connected, check that your Notion database still exists and hasn't been moved or renamed
- Try a manual export to test the connection
The extension is slow or freezing the page
Large save libraries (500+ saves) can occasionally cause slow sidebar loads.
Try:
- Clearing older saves you no longer need
- Using folders to keep the default view smaller
- Exporting as JSON (backup) and then deleting old saves to reduce library size
If performance issues persist, report them via the feedback form at savelore.app/feedback.
A citation link doesn't go to the right message
Citation links use the conversation URL plus a message offset. If the conversation was edited (messages deleted or regenerated), the offset may be off.
The link will still open the right conversation — scroll manually to find the message.
The extension was disabled by Chrome
Chrome occasionally disables extensions during policy enforcement sweeps. If this happens:
- Go to
chrome://extensions - Find Savelore — it may show a warning about being disabled
- Reinstall from the Chrome Web Store
Your saves are safe if you were using cloud sync. If you were on local storage only, export before reinstalling (if the extension still loads temporarily).
Still stuck?
Use the feedback form at savelore.app/feedback — include your browser version, extension version (visible in chrome://extensions), and a description of the issue.
