Chat-aware filtering
Filter the sidebar to show only saves from the conversation you're currently in — and jump straight to any message with one click.
Chat-aware filtering lets you narrow the sidebar to saves from your current conversation. It's a manual toggle — off by default, you turn it on when you need it.
This feature is only available in the sidebar (the panel that opens alongside the chat). It's not available in the full extension tab.
Requirements
Before you can use chat-aware filtering, two things need to be true:
- You're on a supported AI chat page — ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
- You have the Savelore sidebar open (not the full extension tab)
If you're on any other page, the filter button is greyed out and can't be toggled.
How to turn it on
- Open a conversation on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
- Open the Savelore sidebar (click the extension icon or press Cmd+Shift+L on Mac / Ctrl+Shift+L on Windows)
- In the toolbar at the top of the sidebar, look for the chat bubble icon (💬) — it sits between the search bar and the filter icon
- Click it — the icon turns blue and the sidebar now shows only saves from this conversation
To turn it off, click the same icon again. You're back to seeing all your saves.
The chat bubble icon is greyed out and unclickable on any page that isn't a supported AI chat. Once you're on a ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini conversation, it becomes active.
What it's useful for
Your saves accumulate over time across many conversations. Without a filter, finding something from a specific chat means scrolling or searching through everything.
With chat-aware filtering:
- Continuing a project — return to a previous conversation and immediately see everything you already saved from it
- Reviewing before continuing — glance at what you captured in this chat before writing your next message
- Focused sessions — working through a long coding or research conversation, see only the relevant saves without noise
Jump to message
When the chat filter is active, each save card shows a Jump to message button. Click it and Savelore scrolls the page to the exact AI response where you made that save — highlighted so you can spot it immediately.
This is useful when you saved a snippet earlier in a long conversation and want to read the surrounding context.
Works with search
Chat-aware filtering works alongside the search bar. With the filter on, searching looks only within saves from the current conversation. Turn the filter off to search across everything.
The filter is based on the conversation URL. If you open the same chat in two browser tabs, both sidebars will filter to the same set of saves.
