The situation
The share buttons inside AI products share the conversation you are looking at, on the platform's terms. That is more than you usually mean. A thread contains everything you typed while you were working it out, including the parts you would not send to a client.
It has also gone wrong in public. In 2025, ChatGPT shared links created with the discoverable option enabled started turning up in Google results, and people found their own conversations in search. OpenAI removed the option after it was reported.
The smaller problem is coverage. Not every platform has a share feature worth using, and the ones that do produce a link that lives on their servers, follows their rules, and changes when they change it.

Save the entry first
Publishing works on something already in your archive, so save the response, conversation or collection you want to send.

Trim it if you need to
Edit the entry before publishing. Whatever you cut never reaches the page, because the page is made from the entry as it stands when you publish.

Confirm the title. This is the title the link will show when it unfurls, so it is worth a moment.

Send it. The reader opens it in a browser with no account and no install.

Take it down when you are done
Settings, Account lists everything you have published along with view counts. Unpublish and the page is gone for everyone holding the link.
What actually gets sent
The entry's content and the title you confirmed. That is the whole list.
What does not go: your other entries, the URL of the conversation the entry came from, your email address, your tags and folders, and anything about your archive's size or contents. Publishing one entry tells the reader nothing about the rest.
Why a snapshot rather than a live page
Two reasons, and both are about the reader. An entry you keep editing should not silently rewrite a page someone has already read and quoted. And a live page would need standing read access to your archive, which is a thing worth not building.
The trade is that fixing a typo means publishing again. That seemed like the right side to be on.
Published pages are not in search results
A published page is public to anyone holding the link, and it is not indexed by search engines. It will not turn up in Google because someone searched a phrase you happened to use.
That is the specific failure people got burned by with shared chat links, so it is worth being plain about.
Compared with the platform's own share button
