Privacy Policy

The short version

Your archive lives on your device by default. We never see your conversations.

Savelore works entirely offline with no account required. Cloud sync is opt-in — and even then, only the snippets you explicitly save get uploaded. We don’t read your content, sell your data, or run ads. We earn from Pro licenses. That’s it.

Why we built it this way

We use AI tools too. We know how personal those conversations are — project research, half-formed ideas, things you’d rather not broadcast. That’s exactly why Savelore stores everything locally by default. The extension works 100% offline. No account. No upload. Nothing leaves your machine unless you choose it.

Default mode

The extension runs entirely in your browser. Your saved snippets, folders, and tags are stored in Chrome’s local storage — the same way a note-taking app stores files on your hard drive. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

Cloud sync — optional, always

Want your archive on multiple devices? Sign up with your email, or continue with Google, and enable cloud sync. That’s the only moment data leaves your device.

What gets synced

  • Saved snippets (the AI responses you chose to keep)
  • Folder names and structure
  • Tags you've created
  • Your account preferences and Pro status
  • Your email address (for account management)

What never leaves your device

  • Your full AI conversation history
  • Anything you didn't explicitly save
  • Your account data on any AI platform
  • Your browsing history

One exception: if you choose to publish an entry as a shareable link, that entry becomes public on the open web. See Shareable entries below for exactly what that involves.

Storage provider — Supabase. A privacy-focused database platform built on AWS infrastructure.

Encryption — All synced data is encrypted at rest on Supabase servers.

Access control — Row-level security ensures you can only ever see your own data. We can’t browse your snippets.

Offline-first — Local storage remains the source of truth. The extension works without internet. Cloud is backup, not dependency.

Signing in with Google

Savelore offers “Continue with Google” as an alternative to creating a password. Choosing it means Google confirms your identity to us. It does not give Savelore access to your Google account, and it is entirely optional — email and password sign-in remains available, and no account is required to use the extension at all.

Google data we access

We request three standard sign-in scopes — openid, email, and profile — which return:

  • Your email address
  • Your Google account ID (a number that identifies your account to us)
  • Your name and profile picture, as shown on your Google account

Google data we never request

  • Gmail — we cannot read, send, or see any email
  • Google Drive, Docs, or any file content
  • Calendar, Contacts, or Photos
  • Your Google search or YouTube history
  • Any other Google service or restricted scope

How we use it — Solely to create and authenticate your Savelore account, recognise you when you sign in on another device, and send account-related email such as sync or billing notices. We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles from it, and we do not use it to identify you anywhere outside Savelore.

Who we share it with — Your email address and Google account ID are stored by Supabase, our authentication and database provider, acting as a data processor on our behalf. If you subscribe to Pro, your email is also shared with our payment processor for billing. No one else receives it. We never sell it, and we never pass it to advertisers or data brokers.

How we protect it — Transmitted over TLS and encrypted at rest on Supabase servers. Row-level security means your records are readable only by your own authenticated session. Signing in with Google means we never receive, see, or store a password for your account.

How long we keep it — For as long as your Savelore account exists. Email support@savelore.app to delete your account and we will erase your Google-derived data, along with any synced content, within 7 days. You can also revoke Savelore’s access at any time from your Google account permissions page, which immediately ends our ability to identify you through Google.

What we will never do with Google user data

Savelore’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we do not:

  • Use Google user data for serving or targeting advertisements
  • Sell or transfer Google user data to data brokers, information resellers, or any other party for those purposes
  • Use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine learning models
  • Allow humans to read Google user data, except with your explicit consent, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and anonymised
  • Transfer Google user data except as necessary to provide and improve Savelore, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you

Shareable entries — public by your choice, only

You can publish any single entry as a public web page with its own link. This is the one feature in Savelore where your content is meant to be seen by people who aren’t you. It only happens when you explicitly click Publish. Nothing is ever published automatically.

What gets published

  • The one entry you chose — its text, title, description, tags, source platform, and date
  • For Collection Mode entries, the names of the source platforms

What's stripped before publishing

  • The link back to your original AI conversation
  • Your name and email
  • Every other entry in your archive
  • For Collection Mode entries, the underlying conversation URLs

Not indexed — Published pages carry a noindex tag. They’re reachable only by direct link and do not appear in search engine results.

Snapshot, not live — A published page reflects the entry as it was at the moment you published it. Editing or deleting the entry afterward does not change or break a link you’ve already shared.

View counts — We record an aggregate view count for each published page, visible to you under Settings → Account. We don’t track who viewed it or from where.

Reversible — Unpublish any entry at any time and the page comes down immediately for everyone, including anyone who already has the link.

Requires an account — Publishing needs you to be signed in, so you can manage and take down published pages from any device. Signing in to publish does not enable cloud sync — if you were local-only before, you stay local-only.

What we don't do

We don't read your conversations

Even with sync enabled, we don't access or read your saved snippets.

We don't sync without your permission

Cloud sync is opt-in. Everything stays local until you choose otherwise.

We don't track your content

No snippet text, search queries, folder names, or tag names are ever tracked.

We don't require an account

The extension works fully offline. Accounts exist only for cloud sync.

We don't sell your data

We earn through Pro subscriptions at $9.99 / month. Your data is not the product.

We don't share with third parties

Your data stays between you, Savelore, Supabase (for sync and sign-in), Google (only if you sign in with Google), and Notion (if you connect it).

Analytics — what we measure and why

We collect two distinct kinds of analytics. Neither touches your content.

Extension analytics — anonymous, mandatory

The extension sends anonymous usage events to help us understand which features are useful and where things break. This cannot be disabled.

What we measure

  • Number of entries saved (not the text)
  • Feature usage: folders, tags, Collection Mode, cloud sync, shareable entries
  • Which AI platform an entry came from
  • Pro upgrade events
  • Days since install (cohort analysis)

What we never measure

  • Snippet content or AI responses
  • Search queries or tag names
  • Folder names or descriptions
  • Any personally identifiable information
  • Browsing history outside Savelore

Anonymous ID — We use your Chrome extension install ID as an anonymous identifier. It cannot be linked to your email, identity, or any other account. Analytics run through Mixpanel, who act as a data processor and hold no content.

Website analytics — savelore.app only

Our website uses standard analytics to understand how visitors find and use the landing page. This is completely separate from the extension.

  • Page views and time on site
  • Button clicks (e.g. "Add to Chrome")
  • Scroll depth
  • Country-level location only — never city or address
  • Device type and browser

Tools: Umami Analytics (no cookies, no personal data) and Google Analytics 4. Neither can see anything you do inside the extension.

Advertising — free tools pages only

The free tools at savelore.app/tools show one ad from Google AdSense. No other page on the site carries ads, and the extension never does.

Google AdSense uses cookies to serve and measure ads. Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set, and can decline.

The ad never touches what you put into a tool. Files and pasted text are processed in your browser and are not sent to Google or to us.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Your rights over your data

You own your archive. Here’s what you can do with it, always:

Access

View everything in the extension at any time.

Export

Export your snippets to Notion, Markdown, or JSON — anytime, from the extension.

Delete

Delete individual snippets, folders, unpublish shared entries, or your entire account.

Disable sync

Sign out to stop cloud sync. Your local archive stays intact.

To delete your account and all cloud data, email support@savelore.app. We’ll process your request within 7 days.

Third-party services we use

All service providers act as data processors and are contractually required to protect your data. None of them receive your snippet content.

Legal basis and compliance

Savelore complies with Chrome Web Store policies, GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy regulations. Extension analytics are anonymous and contain no personal data. Website analytics are processed under our legitimate interest in improving the product.

Savelore is not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We don’t knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided data, contact us and we’ll remove it promptly.

Pro users: your email is used for license management and, optionally, cloud sync. You can request full account deletion at any time.
